So I was thinking I would just write a short blog about why I have named this site "Pegasus Crossing". First of all the Pegasus is a wonderful and magical creature that has intrigued me for years. I think the idea of flying around on a winged horse just sounds too cool for words. I am not a fan of riding on animals, but FLYING on animals would be just wonderful. We all know that Pegasi come from Greek mythology. It is said that Pegasus was called into existence by Poseidon the sea god, to help him defeat Medusa. The name Pegasus means "spring, or well", and so whenever Pegasus landed on the ground, a spring would be created, pure and sparkling. In other languages the name can also mean lightening. There are other scripts that say Pegasus was created from a mixture of blood from Medusa's head as Poseidon was beheading her and sea foam ( again, this if gory and fantastic). There are many other creations of creatures from the blood of a beheading in Greek mythology ( Aphrodite was born from the blood of Zeus's spurting neck). Because Pegasus was so awesome, he was often found to be flying towards lightening and thunder, and only one god named Perseus ever rode him. Eventually Peggy was put up in Zeus's stables, where he lived out his life getting fat off of a steady diet of government cheese ( yeah, ok I made up that last part). But my point is, I think Pegasi are wonderful and magical! They do not traditionally have a unicorn ( if they do, I call them a "pegacorn" or a "unisus"), but hey it's magical here right? The point is magical flying horse= really cool.
